EEN LICHT EN KLEURRIJK 2015 - A BRIGHT AND COLORFUL 2015

Van Oud naar Nieuw :

Dit jaar eindig ik niet met een review over 2014 van bloemen of natuur;

ook heb ik geen goede of slechte voornemens, ga gewoon door met wat ik altijd doe;

ga niet feestend het jaar uit, maar zit met F. en Snarf tussen ons in op de bank totdat Snarf ons van de bank af werkt omdat hij languit gaat liggen, hij wil de bank voor hem alleen en wij moeten met een stoel genoegen nemen (wie is hier eigenlijk de baas in huis?);

kijk misschien wel tv, meer omdat ik die avond aan oudejaarsmoeheid lijd, dan dat ik het leuk vind;

of we lezen een boek, maar dan val ik ruim voor 12 uur in slaap;

wellicht staat de radio aan met de top 2000, dat houdt me ook niet bepaald wakker;

F. eet een extra oliebol met een glas granaatappelsap en ik een oliebol met een glas port.;

vuurwerk is aan ons ook niet besteed, Snarf is er bang van, de buurman heeft een rieten dak, en wij vinden het eigenlijk geldverspilling;

dan is het eindelijk 24.00 uur, middernacht, we omhelzen elkaar en kijken even naar buiten door het raam op de bovenverdieping vanwaar we het vuurwerk van Rotterdam boven de kassen zien;

enkele klappen dichtbij met wat gillende keukenmeiden;

de dochters bellen ons op of wij hen:  "Gelukkig Nieuwjaar"!

Eindelijk we kunnen gaan slapen.......

- Amsterdam by night -

No 2014 review of flowers or nature;

I also have no resolutions for 2015, just continue with what I always do;

I'm not partying tonight, but sit on the couch with F. and Snarf in between,  until Snarf works us off the couch, he wants lying down stretched out and we just must be satisfied with a chair (who is the boss in this house?);

may be we watch tv, more because I suffer of old year fatigue than that I like watching;

or we read a book, but then I fall asleep far before the beginning of the new year ;

perhaps the radio is tuned on the pop top 2000, that does not keep me awake either;

F. takes another Dutch doughnut with a glass of pomegranatejuice and I eat a doughnut with a glass of port;

No fireworks for us, Snarf is scared, our neighbours have a thatched roof, and we think it's really a waste of money;

at last it is 24.00 hours midnight, we hug each other and watch for a few minutes the fireworks in the city of Rotterdam over the glasshouses through the window on the upper floor;

there are some near blows and some 'screaming cooks';

daughters call us or we call them; "Happy New Year"!

Finally, we can go to sleep......

- Water Fun- (Angus Muir, New Zealand, light artist)
Several spherical buoys float on the water's surface.

A radiant cloud of butterlies.

On December 18th our garden club ended the year in Amsterdam with a lunch in the afternoon and visit to the Amsterdam Light Festival.  In the early evening we had a boat tour on the Amstel and canals along illuminated artworks made by designer artists from the whole world.
I tried to photograph through the windows what did not work very well, but it does give an impression of the colorful spectacle.

- A Bright City -  178 BOTTLES, 1 MESSAGE.
(Saskia Hoogendoorn and Lieuwe Martijn, Creative Studio Tijdmakers)

There is no other city in the world where you can find as many nationalities as Amsterdam: the city's 800.000 residents represents 178 nationalities.
The artwork was inspired by the famous words of former city counciller, Floor Wibaut (1859-1936) :
          "There is only one land      :  earth
                                            There is only one nation   :    humankind
            There is only one faith      :  love"

Al mijn oude, nieuwe en stille volgers wens ik hiermee
een Gelukkig 2015, een jaar met net zoveel licht en kleur als wij in Amsterdam gezien hebben.

I wish all my old, new and anonymous followers a Happy 2015, a year with as much light and color as we have seen in Amsterdam.
