Zaterdag was het zoals zo vaak de laatste tijd somber, grijs en koud, dus dacht ik nu even doorzetten en buxushaagjes knippen. Om lelijke bruine verbrande buxussen te voorkomen, kun je dit het beste doen op een koele, donkere dag. Dit is dus vast gebeurd, nu heb ik nog 28 buxus bollen en piramiden te gaan. Het lijken er niet zoveel, maar ze staan overal verspreid en ik heb ze geteld. Ik tel alles, een soort tik. Ik tel ook altijd de uitgebloeide bloemen die ik afknip en het aantal stuks wasgoed dat ik opvouw en nog veel meer. Zijn er nog meer mensen die alles tellen?
's Middags nog een boeket bloemen geplukt, ook geteld. Er begint nu van alles te bloeien in de tuin. Ik plukte mijn eerste lupinen, een paar irissen, korenbloemen, koekoeksbloemen, scilla's, IJslandse papavertjes en vrouwenmantel.
En toen werd het zondag en werd het een prachtige zonnige dag die we grotendeels, lezend in de tuin hebben doorgebracht.
On Saturday it was as so often this spring, dull, grey and cold. A good day for trimming boxhedges. I did not feel like it but I persisted. To prevent that hedges are burnt by the sun you better trim the hedges on a cool day with no sun. In the afternoon I finished it, but now I still have 28 boxwood balls and pyramids to go. It does not look so many but they are spread all over the garden and I counted them. I count everything, a kind of a crack. I count the faded flowers I cut, the number of laundry I am folding and so on. And you, do you count all kind of things?
Then I picked a bouquet of flowers, and I counted them too. Flowering time is rather late this spring but definitely started now. I picked my first lupins, some irises, cornflowers, campions, bluebells, Iceland poppies and lady´s mantle.
And then it became Sunday and it appeared to be a beautiful sunny day which we spent mostly reading in the garden.
