De maand juli is bijzonder heet begonnen. Met onze tuinclub genoten we de eerste dagen van deze maand van een 2-daags uitstapje. Donderdag lunchten we heerlijk buiten bij een temperatuur van 36 gr.C. in het oosten van ons land, ongekende temperaturen voor ons koude kikkerlandje. Wel een beetje te warm als je niets gewend bent, maar we mogen niet klagen. We bezochten prachtige tuinen maar daarover een volgende keer meer, eerst een overzicht van eigen tuin begin juli.
Ondanks dat we prachtige tuinen bezochten, viel het thuis ook niet tegen. Het is een en al roos en het valt voor mij dan niet mee om niet alleen maar rozen te laten zien. Dus dit keer wat overzichten en natuurlijk rozen en riddersporen.
Met de riddersporen ben ik bezig om het bestand weer op te vijzelen. Na een aantal glorieuze ridderspoor jaren kwam plotseling de klad er in, slakken en konijnen waren grote boosdoeners. Gelukkig had ik wel zaad gewonnen, gezaaid en uitgeplant, maar het zijn nog geen mooie grote groepen. En.....de konijntjes hebben er toch weer aan geknabbeld, ze eten ze niet maar bijten de stelen door en laten ze dan liggen.
July started very hot. With our garden club we enjoyed the first days of a 2-day trip. Thursday we had a delicious lunch in the garden of a restaurant in the east of our country with a temperature of 36 degr. C. (96,8 degr.F.) almost unknown temperatures for our chilly little country. I should say a bit too hot as you are not used to it, but let's not complain. We visited beautiful gardens but next time more about that, first an overview of own garden in the beginning of July.
Despite the beautiful gardens we visited, at home it was not bad too. It's one and all rose and difficult not to show only roses. So this time some views of the garden and of course roses and delphiniums.
With larkspurs I'm working to boost the file. After lots of glorious delphinium years it went suddenly downhill, snails, slugs and rabbits were major culprits. Fortunately I saved seed, sowed and planted out in the garden, but I have not yet the nice big groups I had before. And.....the little bunnies have been nibbling again, they don't eat them but bite through the stalks and leave them.

En zie je hierboven beneden tussen de vrouwenmantel die roze roos, dat is de roos Madame Isaac Pereire. Deze 25 jarige oude dame uit mijn tuin heeft de verplanting en drastische snoei afgelopen winter goed doorstaan.
And do you see at the bottom the pink rose between the lady's mantle, that's the rose Mme Isaac Pereire. This 25 years old lady of my garden has weathered the transplanting and drastic pruning of last winter.
De rode vlier (Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace') met op de voorgrond de roze Annabelle hortensia (Hydrangea arborescens 'Invincibelle').
