HERFSTKLEUREN - AUTUMN COLOURS

Op een zonovergoten zaterdag, 6 oktober, bezocht ik de kwekersdag bij Fa. Esveld in Boskoop. Ik had mijn lijstje meegenomen om de bomen voor het nieuwe tuingedeelte te bestellen. Over 14 dagen worden ze geleverd ik zie er naar uit om ze te gaan planten. Het was er gezellig druk, vooral bij het verkoopgedeelte en ik wandelde dus eerst door de plantentuin, waar de Japanse esdoorns hun herfstkleuren toonden.

On a sun-drenched Saturday October 6th, I visisted the grower's day at Fa. Esveld in Boskoop. I had taken my list to order the trees for the new part of my garden. They will be delivered in a fortnight, I'm so excited and look forward to start planting.  It was pretty busy especially at the sale stands so I first made a walk through the garden, where the Japanese Acers showed their wonderful autumn colours. 

Weer thuis liep ik mijmerend door mijn tuin en zag al voor me hoe het er uit zal gaan zien als alle éénjarigen en Dahlia's weggehaald zijn en de nieuwe aanplant er staat. De Dahlia's mogen nog wel even blijven maar de Cleome's, Cosmea's en Nicandra's gaan komende week naar de composthoop. Ik moet toch ergens beginnen.

Back home I walked through my garden and imagined what it will look like when all annuals and Dahlias have gone and the new trees and shrubs are there. The Dahlias may stay for a while but the Cleomes, Cosmeas and Nicandras will be moved to the compostheap next week. I have to start somewhere.

OKTOBER

Teder en jong, als werd het voorjaar

Vanaf de veranda zag ik vorige week ook de regenboog nog een keer.

EEN TUIN VOL ROZEN......./ A GARDEN FULL OF ROSES......

Het is juni en zoals altijd is dit de maand van de rozen. Overal om me heen verneem ik dat de rozen uitbundiger bloeien dan ooit en ik ben geneigd hierin mee te gaan. Toch.....zou dit echt waar zijn? Ze doen het geweldig dit jaar, dat kan ik niet ontkennen, maar in mijn herinnering was het vorig jaar ook al een geweldig jaar voor de rozen, en ik ben er zeker van dat er al heel veel mooie rozenjaren achter ons liggen. 

It's June and as always this is the month of the roses.  All around me I learn that the roses bloom more profusely than ever and I tend to agree. Yet....would this really be true?  they are doing great this year, I cannot deny, but as I remember last year also was a good year for the roses, and I'm pretty sure that we have already many beautiful rose years behind us. 

De roos 'Pierre de Ronsard' (Eden rose) was al in bloei toen de nieuwe duiventil op de paal geïnstalleerd werd. Gelukkig heeft de roos geen nadelige gevolgen ondervonden. Het was helaas wel te laat voor de kauwtjes, ze wilden zo graag weer een nest maken in de oude ruïne maar dat lukte niet, toen zijn ze uitgeweken naar een plek onder de nok van de garage, helaas een te krappe en te warme plek, ik vond de babykraaitjes nog kaal, dood op de grond. Ze hebben de nieuwe til al geïnspecteerd, dus hopelijk volgend jaar weer kraaien-geluk.

The rose 'Pierre de Ronsard'  (Eden rose) was already in bloom when the dovecote was installed on the pole. Fortunately the rose has not suffered, but sadly it was too late for the jackdaws. They wanted to make their nest as always in the old remainder but that did not work, so they moved to a place in the ridge of the garage, this was too narrow and too hot, I found the still bare baby jackdaws dead on the ground. The parents have already inspected the new dovecote, so I hope  we will have next year jackdaw happiness again.

Aan de binnenkant eveneens met op de voorgrond ook nog eens rozen.

De linkse roos is 'Raubritter' en rechts 'Sander's White'.  Zoals je nog net ziet, staat het huis in de steigers voor een verfbeurt.

En toen liep ik langs deze wonderschone Iris, ik weet niet meer van waar of wanneer ik deze Iris heb gekregen of gekocht, maar hij trekt wel de aandacht met zijn enorme bloem.

And then I walked along this wonderful Iris, I don't know from where or when I got this Iris, but he certainly draws the attention with his enormous flower.

Voor moederdag maakte mijn dochter Catharina op pottenbakker's les deze rozensteker, die komt nu goed van pas.

For mother's day my daughter Catharina made this rosebowl on pottery lessons, which comes in very handy now.

EEN IMPRESSIE VAN DE TUIN IN MEI - AN IMPRESSION OF THE GARDEN IN MAY.

Afgelopen maand was een drukke maand in en buiten de tuin. Mijn tuin werd o.a. weer een stukje uitgebreid, maar daarover een volgende keer. Vandaag laat ik dan ook veel foto's en weinig tekst van de maand mei in de tuin zien, want ondanks de drukte werden er wel foto's gemaakt, maar veel fut om er over te schrijven heb ik niet, dus we gaan van start:

Last month was a busy month in and outside the garden. Among others my garden was expanded again, but about that a next time. Deze pioenroos: Paeonia 'Jan van Leeuwen' kreeg ik 7 jaar geleden van een vriendin vlak voordat ze overleed.

This peony 'Jan van Leeuwen' was a present of a friend just before she died 7 years ago now.

Op de voorgrond de rozen 'Julia Renaissance' en 'Acropolis', dan 'Heathcliff' en 'Gertrude Jekyll' en achteraan de hoge Rosa glauca.  De eerste Delphinium bloem is ook nog te zien en Digitalis. Een lekker rommeltje.

In the front roses 'Julia Renaissance'and 'Acropolis', then 'Heathcliff' and 'Gertrude Jekyll' and far in the back the high growing Rosa glauca. You can also see the first Delphinium flower and Digitalis. A nice mess.

Hierbij wil ik het voor vandaag laten, kom spoedig terug met meer van hetzelfde en wellicht wat nieuws.  Prettige zondag allemaal!
