Clematis 'Romantika'
Juni is geëindigd met een paar een hele mooie "Open Tuin" dagen, druk maar gezellig. Vrijdag in de namiddag begon het. Ik had onze tuinclub 'The Leprechauns' vooraf uitgenodigd om een rondje tuin te komen doen en een glaasje te drinken. Het weer was nog niet geweldig maar het ging goed tussen de buien door en zelfs de zon liet zich even zien.
June ended with some lovely 'Open Garden' days with coming and going people. I invited my garden club friends already for Friday late in the afternoon to make a stroll in the garden and to have a drink afterwards. The weather was still chilly but between the showers we had some sun.
In this "blue" corner we have evening sun. With some extra chairs we just could sit there with 12 ladies for a good chat.
Vanaf het terras kijk je naar de pergola waar nu Rosa Westerland uitbundig bloeit. Op de voorgrond een zaailing van mijn Delphiniums.

Zaterdag en zondag waren de Open Tuin dagen en er kwamen heel wat bezoekers langs. Op zaterdag mochten we 50 bezoekers begroeten en zondag meer dan 60. Over de dag verspreid was dat goed te doen, mijn man zorgde voor koffie en thee. Soms werden hem vragen gesteld over de tuin, maar hij had nauwelijks tijd, ik hoorde hem tegen iemand zeggen dat hij de butler was, haha. Ik had het druk met mensen begroeten en vragen te beantwoorden. Erg leuk was om Marijke van de blog Mijn Kleine Paradijs, www.mijnkleineparadijs.blogspot.nl, te ontmoeten, zij is ook een groot rozenliefhebster.
Zondagavond waren we moe maar voldaan na een paar gezellige tuindagen. "En nu kan ik even geen roos meer zien", dacht ik gisteren, maar 's middags was ik al weer volop bezig met uitgebloeide bloemen afknippen, een hoofdtaak in deze weken.
Saturday and Sunday our garden was open for the public and many visitors came along. On Saturday we could welcome 50 visitors and on Sunday over 60. Spread over the days this was just enough to be able to greet and have a chat with them. My husband F. served coffee and tea. Sometimes they asked questions to him, but he hardly had time, I heard him saying that he was the butler, haha. It was also very nice to meet Marijke of the blog "Het Kleine Paradijs", www.mijnkleineparadijs.blogspot.nl, she is a great rose lover too. Sunday night we were tired but happy after some busy but pleasant days. "And now I 'm tired of all those roses", I thought yesterday but in the afternoon I was already deadheading again, a main task in these weeks.

De Delphiniums staan volop in bloei. De meeste hiervan zijn zelf gezaaid. Ook koop ik soms een mooie grote Engelse Delphinium, zoals 'Conspicuous' en 'Chelsea Star' of een sterke Duitse Delphinium uit het oude assortiment van Karl Foerster, zoals 'Finsteraarhorn' en 'Gletscherwasser'. Goede gestekte Delphiniums op naam zijn in ons land niet zo gemakkelijk te krijgen. Van de mooiste exemplaren verzamel ik zaad, ze komen echter niet kleurecht terug want bijen houden ook van de riddersporen, dus het is altijd een verrassing.
The Delphiniums are in full bloom now. Most of them I sowed myself from collected seeds. Sometimes I buy a Delphinium when I can find a beautiful tall English cultivar, for instance 'Conspicuous' or 'Chelsea Star' or an old strong cultivar, bred by Karl Foerster in Germany, for instance 'Finsteraarhorn' or 'Gletscherwasser' . Good Delphiniums from cuttings are difficult to find in our country. Of the most beautiful flowers I collect seed, it's always a surprise what comes out, for the bees have done their work too.
Dit is Hosta 'Sum and Substance' met haar grote lichtgroene bladeren op de voorgrond met daarachter de roos 'Ingrid Bergman', die steeds meer in de schaduw van de groeiende bomen en heesters komt te staan, toch blijft deze roos het verrassend goed doen.
This is Hosta 'Sum and Substance', with huge fresh, pale green leaves, on the back the rose 'Ingrid Bergman', in the meantime in the shade of growing trees and shrubs. Despite the shade this rose is still doing surprisingly well.
Dit is mijn favoriete roos Félicité Parmentier, deze heeft inmiddels wel last van de schaduw en gaat zienderogen achteruit. Na de bloei ga ik stekken maken.
This is my favorite rose 'Félicité Parmentier'. She is in the meantime in trouble of the shade and is running back. After flowering I shall make cuttings and will look for a better spot.
